A frost covered 6th hole on Friday morning

As I write this week's post on Saturday morning we are sitting at 29 degrees. Plan accordingly for frost delays on both Saturday and Sunday.

15 green surround expansion

Monday, October 24th was the first day we did not have a golf outing since sometime in April. We took advantage and worked on the 15th green surround expansion. This area is tough to work in during golf as workers are blind to the shot coming into the green. A lot of progress was made on Monday. The goal is to have this area finished and seeded by the the end of the day on Monday, Oct. 31.

Below are some pictures of the progress:

Hole 1 fairway bunker being sodded

The fairway bunker on 1 that had it's face hit hard by drought was sodded this week. I am very happy with how this project came out.

Fairway drains were also edged this week. With all the other drought recovery work this was long overdue. Once leaf drop is complete we will be cleaning and ensuring all fairway drain exits as well as greens exits are clear.

Some of our last aerations of the season took place this past week. Step cut around fairways and stepcut around greens were aerated with a solid tine

Unfortunately on Friday we had a hydraulic leak on the new greens mower. While we go through the machine entirely upon delivery to ensure everything from the factory is tightened and correct. Leaks like this happen more often then you think with new machines. With the morning light it went unnoticed for a while and we have drips on 8 greens. This wasn't a major leak and will go mostly unnoticed by the membership. It will mostly just bother me and the agronomy team, but wanted to communicate it in case some of the membership does notice.

As we move into next week we will be looking to finish the15 green expansion on Monday. After that we will be concentrating fully on leaf cleanup for the week. With the wind the past Thursday we had a tremendous amount of leaf drop. Most if not all projects will be on hold for a short period of time while we focus on leaf cleanup.

A couple of nice shots from the week:
