Bunker work 7

The majority of this week was spent on bunker work and cleaning some of the rock outcroppings on the course. The bunker work is consisting of finding the edge of the liner and taking the bunker edges back to the liner edge. Work has been performed to holes 1,4,7, thus far and will continue as long as the ground isn't frozen. We are also taking inventory of areas where sand needs to be added. Sand will be added in March and April to the areas that need it.

We also cleaned leaf accumulation from a lot of our rock outcroppings this week and mowed down some of the remaining natural areas on the course. These areas hold a lot of leaves while we focus on primary play surfaces earlier in the fall. By the time we clean them out we have very large piles for our leaf vacuum.

Below are some pictures of the cleaning out on 14 and 15

The course will be closing on Monday, Dec. 5th for the season. We will start our winter topdressing to greens weather permitting on Monday the 5th. The weather towards the end of the week looks to get cold and some snow could be in the forecast as well. Topdressing helps protect the crowns of the plant (growing point) over the course of the winter and helps with dilution of organic matter as well.
