Early morning on the third hole

Work to the third hole continued this week. One area was prepped for sod and another large area is very close to being ready. The second area that was worked on was tougher than anticipated. It was full of roots and rock which slowed progress. Sod will be coming Thursday, June 1 for the area that we have ready.

A gallery of the areas being prepped:

The rest of the rough on the third hole is growing in nicely. Rough on this hole has been fertilized twice and is growing in nicely. With some good growing weather ahead of us it will only get better.

The new tees on 4 and 7 will open on Saturday, June 3rd. The agronomy team still has a bit more work to do to the tees before they will be ready to open.

The range project is progressing nicely. The drainage has all been installed, backfilled, and working well. Irrigation has been laid out and is currently being installed. The hope is to have the irrigation completed by Saturday evening. Root zone will be hauled to the targets tomorrow along with work to the range floor. If everything goes well, I suspect we might be laying sod to certain areas on Friday, June 2nd.

Other work completed this week:

Sprayed greens and tees for annual bluegrass weevil larvae (our major insect pest)

Edged all greens and perimeter irrigation heads

A full day of pool maintenance to get ready for Saturday's opening

All annual flowers were planted in the clubhouse bed's and flower boxes

Clubhouse irrigation worked on

Pond maintenance continued and completed

Rough sprays continued (herbicides)

Kirby Markers edged

Misc. Detail work to other areas of the golf course.

On the 12th hole, we have a fox den. The young foxes have started to grab balls off the fairway and carry them back to their den. The foxes were busy on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, but I have yet to hear of any incidence today. At this point, I am just waiting to see how this plays out with my hope that the young foxes will move onto other forms of entertainment.
