Congratulations to team Scotland on Ryder Cup Victory

Winnie highlighting how the Agronomy Team felt on Sunday afternoon after Ryder Cup

Another successful Ryder Cup is in the books with better then predicted weather for all three days of the event. A great event all around!

Nice view of third hole in some rare sunshine

Work continued this week to the beautification project on the third hole. Another large area was prepped for sod. The agronomy team is hoping to install the sod sometime this coming week. After this we basically have one more area along the rough to sod, some sod work to the purple tee walk-on, and to finish the drain work to the left of the fairway. At some point this fall the sunken drains at bottom of the fairway will be raised and leveled as well.

Jim working on prepping 3 for sod.

Rough on right of 3 - what a difference!!!

When this project is done a PowerPoint of before and after pictures will be put together. I recently viewed some before pictures and even I was somewhat surprised by the transformation. Once again, the agronomy team appreciates the patience with this project. Agronomy must come first! The range project has also consumed a great deal of the team's time as well. A number of day's a week the majority of the afternoon team are on the range working.

Some other projects worked on this week:

Seed area right rough on 4 coming along nicely. Additional areas seeded

Sand be adding in the distance to fairway bunker on 9

All greens were vented with a 1//4 inch solid tine to promote gas exchange with the moist and humid conditions we are experiencing.

Yardage plates put back into newly constructed tees

Some germination on range field

The range field has begun to germinate and some more seed should be germinating in the coming days. Assistant Michael Curtin walk spread fungicide to the entire range floor on Friday to help protect what is germinated. I am sure his leg's are a little sore this morning. Seed is very prone to what is called "dampening off" at this time of year and that fungicide should help in preventing that. We plan to fertilize the range floor next week. The range tee and targets were also sprayed with fungicide and plant growth regulator on Friday. I will have a much better idea where we are out by the end of this week. Once we get two to three cuts to the range floor we will discuss opening the range and the schedule.

Other work completed this week:

Greens sprayed with fungicides and fertility

Tees sprayed with fungicide, fertility, growth regulator

Step cut fertilized around greens

Parking lots at clubhouse cleaned and all islands sprayed with herbicide

Drain exit hole 18 fairway bunker was seeded

Number of rock outcropping were maintained

Fairway bunkers were sprayed with herbicide mostly targeting clover

A brief break in the cloud cover
