The week started with a full out attack on the range floor. We had some wash out from the heavy rain over the past weekend. I was also not satisfied with the range floor and hydroseed work that the contractor did. Our goal for week was to have range hydroseeded by Thursday for full focus could be on the Ryder Cup.

We started with softening the range floor using a tine harrow that I have had success with before. As luck would have it Tractor Supply down the road had one in stock and we instantly put it to work.

This softened the top of the range floor and created grooves for the seed to go into. This will help with the crucial soil to seed contact.

A couple more pictures of the tine harrow work:

We also used our bunker machine to help after the surface was softened with the tine harrow.

An improved seedbed

There was also a lot of handwork involved as well. Once this work was done we pre-seeded the range and the Invited team gave me the go ahead to use additional resources to hydroseed the range field again.

Nice start to the hydroseeding

Just about completed hydroseed to range floor

Once the range was seeded our full effort went to Ryder Cup Prep.

A busy morning of course prep.

Opening day of Ryder Cup on Friday, featured some nice weather and greens just at or slightly above 12 feet on the stimpmeter. To get that speed additional growth regulator was added, greens were double cut with groomers on Tuesday, cut and rolled Wednesday, double cut Thursday, cut and double rolled Friday. Saturday morning before the early shotgun start, greens were cut and rolled. As I type this week's blog, the crew is headed out the door to do an afternoon mow and course spruce up to put the finishing touches on for the final round on Sunday.

Rough sprayed with fungicide, fertility, and herbicide

Additional areas to the rough on third hole seeded

Additional area on the rough on four was seeded as well

Wildlife was all over the golf course this week, but not many photo opportunities. One of the agronomy team did catch a nice picture of a groundhog exiting his home.
