A foggy humid morning on 7

Greens were topdressed before the rain and during the rain on Sunday. One of the best ways we have found to incorporate sand is to time topdressing with rainfall. Some additional topdressing was added to cleanup passes and mounds during the week as well. Topdressing helps dilute organic matter and smooth the putting surface.

Extensive work was done to the front nine bunkers this week. The crew spent a great deal of time detailing and moving sand around to ensure consistent depths. Plan is to attack the back nine next week.

Work was also done to numerous rock outcroppings and they were also sprayed with herbicide.

Work was also done to the drain on 3. Goal is to have the drain work completed next week with only the retaining wall along the path left to build. Sod is scheduled for July 11th and we will be sodding a large portion of the area that was recently prepped on the middle left of 3.

The driving range is moving in the right direction and we are doing everything possible to speed along the establishment of the range field. Some have noticed that we started trenching a section of the field. We are in the process of resolving a drainage issue. This work will not delay the opening of the range. Nobody wants the range open more then my team and I. We will continue to do everything possible to get the range field floor established.

A lot of time was spent spraying this week. With all the moisture and humidity it has been a constant battle. With a loss of an assistant spraying has been something that has caused a source of stress for me and keeping up with applications. If I were asked a month ago if we would ever send three sprayers out on the same day, I would have most likely laughed. This week it happened! A lot of training, time, and some frustration was involved, but Jim Kindler is settling in to the role of spray tech nicely. I would like to thank my assistant Michael Curtin for the time he put into the training process as well. I now feel we are in a pretty good place to close out the season.
