Sod by the 10th Blue Tee

The agronomy team wrapped up a couple of projects last week. The area by the 10th tee has been sodded and will be roped off to allow for the sod to root. If hitting from the blue tee please avoid stepping over the ropes onto the sod and enter the blue tee from the front. After the ropes have been removed the memorial bench will be placed on the pavers behind the tee.

The hydraulic leak on the 1st fairway that was previously removed has been sodded. We took the sod for this area from a corner of the short game fairway. We will fill in and seed the empty strips left behind in the near future. Below are some pictures of the work.

Work has also continued to the right side of the first hole. Crew member Adam has been busy cleaning out and filling in the multiple stump holes left before and after the area we previously sodded. We will continue to clean out these areas and haul loam in preparation for seeding. A portion of the rough immediately after the sodded area will be left alone for now to allow for cart access to the fairway.

The remaining bunker on short game was edged and is ready for new sand. Initial loads of sand were hauled to some of the bunkers on short game. Additional sand will continue to be added whenever we have staff to spare from tasks required on the rest of the course.

Applications:

  • Seasonal grub control was completed on all fairways

  • Fairways received a foliar spray of fertility, fungicides, and growth regulation

  • Tees also received a foliar spray of fertility, fungicides, and growth regulation

  • Spray Technician Jim's war against clover continued

Two new employees Jack and Eduardo joined the agronomy team last week. Another new employee, Jeffery, will be starting Monday the 8th. The new crew members did excellent for their first week on the course and we look forward to working with them for the rest of the season.

Wildlife:

Gray Catbird

By 18 green there was a young Red-tailed Hawk working on its flying while one of its parents called down to it from a nearby pine tree.
