Thank a Superintendent Day

Just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who sent emails or texts yesterday on Thank a Superintendent Day. There was simply too many emails to reply back to everyone and I am still reading through some of the emails. I will also be printing a lot of the emails to share with my crew. I appreciate all the mentions of the crew in the emails. I am fortunate to have such a hard working dedicated team.
In the emails from yesterday, there was quite a few questions of what was causing the brown spots on the 5th green. This is blue heron and egret feces damage. With the low water conditions in all golf course waterways we have attracted more herons and egrets then usual. They are cashing in on the smorgasbord of food that is now easy pickings. While herons and egrets usually roost in trees, we have two that are roosting standing on the 5th green. Their fecal matter is what is causing the brown spots. The agronomy team will be cutting these areas out early next week.
I would also like to thank Heather Waters and the entire IWGA for providing my team with lunch last week. It was appreciated by all.
Best,
Matt
