7th hole - Afternoon of March 11th

The temperature yesterday hit 60 degrees for the first time in Ipswich since last November. As the above picture shows, we still have areas of the course melting out from snow and ice. I suspect we will be 100 percent snow free by the end of this coming weekend. Rain is predicted for Sunday into Monday and the hope is this will take most of the frost out of the ground. All turf areas look to be in good shape at this time and course opening preparations have started.

I will be bringing a few of the seasonal agronomy team members back on Monday, March 17 to help the full time team in course preparations. Due to the long period of snow and ice over February, the agronomy team was not able to do any cleanup to the course during February. We had a good amount of debris down that doubled with the heavy winds experienced last Thursday - Saturday. A chipper has been rented for the week of March 17th as we ramp up our spring cleanup efforts.

I currently don't have a target date on when the course will open. I will have a much better picture of where we are at, and the long range weather at the end of next week.

While waiting for the course to open, the short temporary course will be available for walkers starting at 10 am daily. The short game area and greens will open Saturday, March 15 at 10 am and will remain open daily at 10 am. The other practice greens and driving range will remain closed until course opening.
