18 fairway after first cut of season

Dear Members,

The Agronomy team is excited about the start of the 2023 season. Below is a quick course update on a few housekeeping items. Please note that regardless of cart policy, holes 2 and 3 will remain cart path only.

Hole 3 Hole 3 will be a work in progress for the entire golf season. Our goal is to create a hole that the membership and agronomy team can be proud of. This will result in some maintenance disruption in order for us to reach our goal. Currently, the rough contains many areas of scattered stump shavings. Work to 3 will consist of the following:

  • Improving rough conditions on the right and left of this hole

  • Fix the drainage issue in the rough

  • Repave a section of cart path

  • Level the drains on the fairway

  • Additional brushwork

  • Start converting the fairway to bentgrass for the long-term success of the fairway

Cart Policy The daily cart policy will be posted on the 1st and 10th tee. Changes to the cart policy will be sent via Zingle. Holes 2 and 3 will be cart path only, as well as all par 3’s. Opening Day cart policy will be determined Friday morning since we have rain forecasted for Thursday afternoon and evening.

Holes 2 and 3 Holes 2 and 3 will be cart path only. I have decided to start the season with no ropes lining the cart paths on these holes. The ropes take away from the aesthetics of the two holes, are a maintenance headache, and are annoying for golfers to step over. It also makes it difficult for my team to manage handicapped cart traffic onto these fairways. Ropes on a golf course are something that I personally do not like. I want to limit their use in 2023. I am fully confident that the membership will respect the cart policy on these holes, and we will not have to go back to the unappealing rope system,

Course Amenities Despite placing my course amenities order in early February, many new course amenities have yet to arrive. Prisms on Flagsticks – Prisms have arrived and will be on top of our wooden flagsticks. These prisms will eliminate any issues with picking up the flagstick with range finders. Bunker Rakes – Bunker rakes have been back-ordered. Rakes will be out on the course, but will be a little thin to start the season Water Cooler Stations – Water cooler stations have been delayed. We will have two old stations on the course to start the season on holes 4 and 12. Divot Refill Station 10 – Divot station has been delayed as well. Divot bottles will be out on 5 and 14 tees. As soon as we receive the refill station, another one will be installed in a strategic location on 10. Trash receptacles – We also have new trash receptacles on order. We will utilize our old receptacles to start the season.

Bunkers All bunkers have been gone through and raked fully. We will be starting to add sand to some bunkers this week and next week where sand is needed.
