Hinsey Mowing Fairways

Monday was the start of spring aerification here at the ICC. The cloudy and sporadic rain showers at the start of the week were not ideal for this process, specifically when it came to allowing the sand to dry before being brushed in. Despite this all 22 greens across the property have been punched and top-dressed with sand. This aerification the greens were punched with a combination of a 1/2 inch solid tine to a depth of 8 inches and then followed with a 0.3 inch hollow tine to a depth of 2 inches. A granular fertilizer was also applied to the greens following the aerification. Our aims for this aerification were to allow for gas exchange into the root zone, improve water infiltration, and manage organic matter buildup within the greens.

On Wednesday, all fairways and the driving range floor were aerified by Sportscape Unlimited. This is the third year they have punched the fairways and the second that they have deep tined the greens ahead of our normal inhouse aerification work. Punching fairways ourselves in house is something that normally takes us weeks to accomplish with our single tractor.

Short Game:

The short game tee will be open for use starting tomorrow, Saturday May 4th. Please follow the same etiquette and suggested divot patterns as the range grass tee and short game fairway. Divot mix containers will be stationed on tee for use to fill divots.
